Co Director
Sammie is a versatile performer, choreographer and educator ranging in techniques from Contemporary to Hip-Hop Dance. Her passion for dance is apparent throughout her practice and from her experiences in education to performance she believes in the power of dance to challenge, change and heal.
Sammie completed her formal Dance training at QUT receiving a BFA and Diploma in Education. She has been part of the hip hop dance scene for over 15years both in Brisbane and melbourne. Her practice ranges from working within theatre to commercial and community contexts. She shares a passion for working with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
As a dance educator Sammie has experience working across a wide range of age groups including working as a high school dance teacher, guest choreographer, workshop mentor and children’s classes at various private studios. Sammie was the QLD coordinator for Street Dreams a free community hip hop dance program which saw her run weekly classes across 5 locations in Brisbane and outlying suburbs and at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.
Sammie first started teaching hip-hop themed classes for under 5's through Elements Collective back in 2014 and then through an Imaginary Theatre residency at the Brisbane Powerhouse was able to further develop her philosophy when working with parents and children. She just loves to see everyone having so much fun!
